These towns are covered here rather than on their own pages, because one
page that goes deep on the county serves you better than a thin page per
town. The local detail is the same detail we work from on the day.
Moving in Holmdel
about half an hour from our Wall Township base
Holmdel is anchored by Bell Works, the reinvented Bell Labs building, and a steady share of the work here is people arriving for a job in it: corporate relocations timed to a start date rather than a closing. The residential side is large lots with long driveways, which is the easiest kind of access we get anywhere. A truck pulls to the door and the carry is short, so crew time goes into the house rather than the walk. Holmdel Park and the western side toward Crawfords Corner are the most established streets, with the mature trees and the low branches that come with them.
Neighborhoods we work in: Bell Works, Holmdel Village, Crawfords Corner, Centerville, Holmdel Park area
Moving in Rumson
about half an hour from our Wall Township base
Rumson sits on the neck between the Navesink and the Shrewsbury, and the geography decides the move. Rumson Road and the river lanes off it are narrow with mature hedging and gravel drives that do not always take the weight of a loaded 26-foot truck, so we check the approach before we commit to one. The houses are large, old and full of pieces that need blanket-wrapping rather than shrink-wrap: full packing is the norm here rather than an add-on. Access, not volume, is what sets the crew size on a Rumson job.
Neighborhoods we work in: Rumson Road, Navesink River Road, Bingham Avenue, Sea Bright border, Ridge Road
Moving in Colts Neck
about 20 minutes from our Wall Township base
Colts Neck is acreage: long private drives, paddock fencing and houses set several hundred feet off the county road. That is close to ideal for a move, because the truck parks at the door and nobody shuttles boxes from the street. The trade is the drive itself, which is often gravel and always long, so we confirm it will carry a loaded truck rather than finding out with one. Barns and outbuildings turn up on more Colts Neck jobs than anywhere else we work, and they are their own conversation at the walkthrough.
Neighborhoods we work in: Route 537 corridor, Muhlenbrink Road, Five Points, Laird Road, Montrose
Moving in Red Bank
about half an hour from our Wall Township base
Red Bank is the densest town in Monmouth and the moves reflect it. Around Broad and Monmouth Streets the housing is apartments above shops and Victorians on streets that were laid out for carriages, so a loading zone gets reserved in advance rather than improvised on the day. The North Jersey Coast Line station puts commuters here, and their moves usually run to a start date in the city. Away from the center, the streets toward the Navesink open up and behave like ordinary suburban moves.
Neighborhoods we work in: Downtown Red Bank, Broad Street, West Side, Navesink riverfront, Shrewsbury Avenue
