For interstate work we hold USDOT 3855223 and docket MC-1609840, which you can look up yourself on the FMCSA SAFER registry. Long-distance moves out of NJ are conducted under full FMCSA-compliant household-goods paperwork, bill of lading, and full-value protection. Insurance carries $2M general liability and full-value protection is available on every move. A Certificate of Insurance is issued to your destination building on commercial jobs by default and on residential jobs on request.

A statewide average is close to useless here, and New Jersey is a good example of why. The same two-bedroom move is a different job in a Hoboken walkup with no loading zone, a Rumson house with a long gravel driveway, and an Edison condo with a service elevator you have to book. Shore addresses on a barrier island add a bridge and, on the narrow streets, sometimes a shuttle because the truck cannot reach the door. What sets your number is the volume, the access at both ends, the stairs, and whether we are packing. Any figure quoted before someone has looked at those is a guess being presented as a price, which is why we do a short walkthrough and put the estimate in writing instead.

Most in-state residential moves are quoted as a written estimate after a consultation by video or in person, so you have a number in writing before anything is booked. It is an estimate rather than a binding price, so the final number reflects the job as it actually runs. The walkthrough is what keeps it close. Hourly is available for partial-day jobs and genuinely ambiguous scopes. Long-distance moves are estimated the same way, never by final weight after loading.
