Moving in Jackson

What a move in Jackson actually looks like.

Jackson is the largest township by area in the county, and that shows up as long private driveways and houses set well back from the road. That is good news on move day: the truck usually pulls right to the door instead of shuttling from the street. Most of the housing stock is newer, which means wider doorways and staircases than the shore towns, and fewer disassembly problems. Moves out of Jackson skew long-distance more than the rest of the county.

Jackson is part of our Ocean County coverage, about half an hour from our Wall Township base. We are in Ocean County multiple times a week, so scheduling stays tight and the same crew loads and unloads, no contractor handoffs.

Nathan and his team were great for my family's move. He was responsive and was able to effectively fit all of my family's belongings in the moving truck with no damage or hassle. I will most definitely be using Fresh Start Movers again and would recommend them to anyone who needs help moving. During a very stressful time, they were able to help put our fears of moving at ease.

FAQ

Common questions.

Quick answers to what NJ movers ask most. If yours isn't here, call, we will not put you through an automated phone tree.

Ask us anything

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are NJ Division of Consumer Affairs registered for in-state household-goods moves, NJ Public Movers License #39PM00129400. For interstate work we hold USDOT 3855223 and docket MC-1609840, which you can look up yourself on the FMCSA SAFER registry. Long-distance moves out of NJ are conducted under full FMCSA-compliant household-goods paperwork, bill of lading, and full-value protection. Insurance carries $2M general liability and full-value protection is available on every move. A Certificate of Insurance is issued to your destination building on commercial jobs by default and on residential jobs on request.

What is the average cost of movers in NJ?

A statewide average is close to useless here, and New Jersey is a good example of why. The same two-bedroom move is a different job in a Hoboken walkup with no loading zone, a Rumson house with a long gravel driveway, and an Edison condo with a service elevator you have to book. Shore addresses on a barrier island add a bridge and, on the narrow streets, sometimes a shuttle because the truck cannot reach the door. What sets your number is the volume, the access at both ends, the stairs, and whether we are packing. Any figure quoted before someone has looked at those is a guess being presented as a price, which is why we do a short walkthrough and put the estimate in writing instead.

How do you price a move?

Most in-state residential moves are quoted as a written estimate after a consultation by video or in person, so you have a number in writing before anything is booked. It is an estimate rather than a binding price, so the final number reflects the job as it actually runs. The walkthrough is what keeps it close. Hourly is available for partial-day jobs and genuinely ambiguous scopes. Long-distance moves are estimated the same way, never by final weight after loading.

Do you handle long-distance and interstate moves?

Yes. Every interstate move uses a dedicated truck, your shipment is the only shipment on the vehicle, loaded once in NJ and unloaded once at the destination. No terminal transfers, no shared loads. Delivery is a specific day in writing, not a 14-day spread. Most-requested routes are NJ-to-Florida and NJ-to-Carolinas.

Do you offer packing services?

Yes. Full-service packing wraps the whole house in 1 to 2 days; fragile-only is the more common configuration where we handle the kitchen, art, china, and electronics and the homeowner packs closets and books. Materials (boxes, paper, wrap, tape) are included in the packing quote. Unpacking is available as an add-on.

Do you provide a Certificate of Insurance?

Yes. For commercial moves we issue a COI to the destination building by default, naming the property manager as an additional insured if requested. For residential moves we will issue a COI to your HOA or building management on request, typically within one business day of a written request.
